Bush Seeks OK on Iraq From Congress
President Bush has submitted a draft resolution to Congress authorizing the use of military force against Iraq. So thoughtful of him to draft it for them, busy as they are with many other important matters. I agree with the historians that merely consulting Congress is not enough. If we are to act alone, without allied support, then Congress needs to debate and pass a declaration of war. We owe it to the men and women of the armed forces to ensure that the cause is just and the war legally executed. It's not an intervention, it's not a police action, it is a full fledged invasion of a possibly nuclear armed country. If sufficient cause does not exist for a formal declaration of war, then let Bush fire off a Clintonian barrage of missiles and then declare victory. If we are going to do this, let's do it right...or not at all.

Iraq Inspections Timeline
A chronology of UN inspections from the AP. It makes clear the Iraqi pattern of cheat and retreat. So, clearly, the solution is to send the inspectors back in. Makes sense. Really.

Iraq: Inspectors Will Find Truth
In the next exciting episode of Cheat and Retreat, Iraq allows inspectors to carefully search the Baghdad Hilton for weapons of mass destruction. Inspectors ask to leave the hotel and the Iraqi officials find that to be unprofessional and refuse. Drama ensues. Please note, this is an original episode, not a repeat.
