Palestinian Families Get Saddam Money It would appear that there is indeed a connection between Saddam and terrorism, he is subsidizing Islamic suicide bombers. I'm not in favor of war, but neither am I in favor of a dishonorable peace. Peace is not inherently good if it also causes harm and suffering, especially to our allies. Observe how Saddam honors his negotiated and probationary peace with the UN, he sends his money to finance terrorists. With the eyes of the world upon him and an army on his border, this is how he acts. Give peace a chance? We have, for 12 years. It's time to give war a chance.

At His Command, Cont.
Thank you to Dan, who reminded me that the Congress did pass a resolution in October of 2002 which authorized President Bush to launch a military attack against Iraq if he decides it is necessary. Although this was widely reported in the media (the CNN report can be found here) I did not view that as a formal declaration of war at that time. What I had in mind was President Bush addressing a joint session of Congress and specifically asking for a declaration of war against Iraq. This approach worked well for Woodrow Wilson and FDR, so why not Bush? Lacking that kind of event, I can't help but wonder if historians will record October 11, 2002 as the date on which the United States declared war on Iraq?
