Warblogs Without War
An interesting article over at Fulton Chain Weblog speculating on the fate of warblogs now that the war is over. Since I started Event Horizon before the war I don’t anticipate running out of things to say or think about, but it does amaze me, looking over recent posts, how the war and events in the Mideast came to dominate this blog. I had envisioned offering commentary on current events as well as reviews of books I’d read, movies I’d seen, and general observations about life, the universe and everything. I think perhaps I’ll try to get back to that.

Best-Selling Diet Doctor Dies at 72
I'd like to note the passing of a medical pioneer. Dr. Atkins was the embodiment of the idea that it is individuals of courage and integrity who hold fast to their vision against great odds and opposition that most often lead science in new directions and toward new breakthroughs. While the medical community cast scorn on his ideas and labeled him a dangerous charlatan, Dr. Atkins held firm to his theories and lived to see himself vindicated by the same establishment that had attacked him. He joins a long tradition of paradigm busting rebels who refused to let established orthodoxy stand in the way of scientific progress.
